Welcome to the CR Class Blog

Debut Blog!

Welcome to 5/6 CR’s new blog – below are what the children in our class wanted to tell you about.

This half term has been really busy so far.

We are studying living things and their habitats in science this half term. This started Mini Monsters visit – Ed brought several creatures to show us. These included a bearded dragon, an African giant snail, a corn snake, a millipede and a tarantula. We were able to hold many of these – if we were brave enough!

We enjoyed a visit from Flegg HS. Several former OVJS pupils came to answer any questions we had about life in the high school.

Many of us have attended after school sports clubs (football, rugby, gymnastics, netball & multi-sports). Some of us have also represented the school in football matches against other schools.

Our current English work is based on the book ‘The Journey’ by Francesca Sanna. We are imagining the journey taken by the refugees in our writing. In PE we are learning how to play Kwik cricket while in art we have been creating folded 3D flowers.

This week, those of us in Year 6 have been sitting our SATs. We stayed calm, worked hard, did our best, survived and are relieved they are over. Many of us enjoyed having SATs breakfast at school.  Year 5 had a busy time solving murder mysteries in the hall.

Our current class reader book is ‘The Nowhere Emporium’ by Ross Mackenzie.

Many of us are looking forward to the residential visit to Whitwell Hall, and making memories, next week.
